Masonic Light

By C. Pylate Price

Masonic Light

With the light of thirty three thousand suns;
Freemasonry illuminates the darkest corners of the earth
The benevolence of our gentle craft;
Is a blessing from the Great Architect Of The Universe.

To all mankind
Beyond the boundaries of limits
Set only by crippled feeble minds
Through the perils of endless time

Our Masonic brotherhood perseveres
Quietly serving others; sometimes out of sight
For breaking the darkness
Is the illuminated brightness of Masonic Light?

Masonic Membership Card

By Unknown Author

Masonic Membership Card

 hold in my hand a little scrap of paper
2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches in size.
It is of no intrinsic worth,
not a bond, not a check or receipt for valuables,
yet it is my most priceless possession.
It is my membership card in a Masonic Lodge.

It tells me that I have entered
into a spiritual kinship with my fellow Masons
 practice charity in word and deed;
to forgive and forget the faults of my brethren;
 hush the tongues of scandal and innuendo;
to care for the crippled, the hungry, and the sick,
and to be fair and just to all mankind.

It tells me that no matter where
I may travel in the world,
I am welcome to visit a place where good fellowship prevails
among brothers and friends.

It tells me that my loved ones, my home,
and my household are under the protection
of every member of this great Fraternity,
who have sworn to defend and protect mine
as I have sworn to defend and protect theirs.

It tells me that should I ever be overtake
by adversity or misfortune
through no fault of my own,
the hands of every Mason on the face of the earth
will be stretched forth to assist me in my necessities.

                                                     And finally, it tells me

that when my final exit from the stage of life has been made,
there will be gathered around my lifeless body,
friends and brothers who will recall to mind my virtues,
though they be but few,
and will forget my faults,
though they may be many.

It tells me that, and a great deal more,
this little card,
and makes me proud yet humble,
that I can possess this passport
into a society of friends and brothers
that are numbered in the millions.

The Beacon Light

By Rob Morris

A city set upon a hill
Cannot be hid
Exposed to every eye, it will
Over surrounding plain and vale,
An influence shed,

And spread the light of peace afar,
Or blight the land with horrid war.

Each Mason’s Lodge is planted so
For high display
Each is a BEACON LIGHT, to show
Life’s weary wanderers as they go,
The better way

The Beacon Light
          The Beacon Light

To show by ties of earthly love,
How perfect is the Lodge above!

Be this your willing task, dear friends,
While laboring here
Borrow from Him who kindly lends
The heavenly ladder that ascends
The higher sphere
And let the world your progress see,
Upward by FAITH, HOPE, CHARITY.

The Level and the Square

Rob Morris

By Rob Morris

We meet upon the level and we part upon the square
These words have precious meaning and are practice everywhere
Come let us contemplate them, they are worthy of a thought
From the ancient times of Masonry, these symbols have taught
We meet upon the level, every country, sect, and creed
The rich man from his mansion, the poor man from the field
For wealth is not consider within our outer door
And we all meet on the level upon the checker floor.

We act upon the Plumb the Junior Warden states
We walk upright throughout our lives, we seek the pearly gates
The All-seeing Eye that reads our hearts doth bears us witness true
That we shall try to honor God and give each man his due
We part upon the square as all good Masons do
We mingle with the multitude a faithful band and true
So the brotherhood of Masonry from every corner come
To meet upon the level and act upon the plumb

here’s a world where all are equal we’re coming to it fast
We shall meet upon the level there when the days on earth are past
We shall stand before the altar and our Master will be there
To try the blocks we offer with his own unerring square
We shall meet upon the level there but never thence depart
There’s a Mansion…’tis all ready for each trusting, faithful heart
There’s a Mansion and a welcome and a multitude is there
Who has met upon the level and been tried upon the square?

Let us meet upon the level that while these earthly ties we share
And just hope we’re there to answer when the roll is called up there
As we travel through our lifespan time aids us to prepare
To gather up our working tools and part upon the square
So remember all our teachings, that bright fraternal chain
We part upon the square below to meet in heaven again
These words have precious meaning and are practiced everywhere
We meet upon the level and we part upon the square.

By Charles L. Mead

Can you say tonight in parting
with the day that’s slipping past
That you helped a single brother
of the many that you passed?

Is a single heart rejoicing
over what you did and said?
Does the man whose hopes were fading,
Now with courage look ahead?

Did you waste the day or lose it,
Was it well or poorly spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness,
Or a scar of discontent?

As you close your eyes in slumber,
Do you think God will say,
You have earned one more tomorrow,
By the work you did today

I Knelt Where Hiram Knelt

by Pat M. Armstrong

Last night I knelt where Hiram knelt
And took an obligation.

Today, I’m closer to my God
And I’m a Master Mason.

Though heretofore my fellow men
Seemed each one like the other;

Today, I search each one apart
I’m looking for “MY BROTHER.”

And as I feel his friendly grip
It fills my heart with pride;

I know that while I’m on the square
That he is on my side.

                                                   hiram abiff last words, hiram abiff last words

His footsteps on my errand go,
If I should such require;

His prayers will plead on my behalf;
If I should so desire.

My words are safe within his breast,
As though within my own;

His hand forever at my back,
To help me safely home.

Good counsel whisper in my ear,
And warns of any danger.

My square and compass, Brother now,
Who once would call me stranger.

I might have lived a normal life
And risen to distinctions;

Without my brothers helping hand,
And the fellowship of Masons.

But God, who knows how hard it is
To resist life’s temptations,

Knows why I knelt where Hiram knelt;
And took an obligation

PETER RYAN

We meet on the level, my Brothers and me,
We encourage good men into our society.

If their actions are upright and always true,
As If we see integrity in all that they do.

 If they seek more light and value truth,
If their own insights desire proof.

we will offer them our right hand,
And welcome them from any land.

For we judge on character not creed,
Nor on religion or wealth, but deed.

We’ll meet them on the level, my Brothers and me,
And accept them as a Mason, ancient and free.

Let’s Go To Lodge Tonight!

Author Unknown

Let's Go To Lodge Tonight

My brother, let’s go to Lodge tonight;
You haven’t been for years.
Let’s don our Lambskin Apron white
And sit among our peers.

I feel a kind of longing, see,
to climb those creaky stairs;
I know it’ll be a thrill for me
to lay aside my cares.

We’ll meet Tyler at the door
and though he’ll hesitate,
we’ll hear him say just as before,
“Come in or you’ll be late.”

I’d like to get out on the floor–
Come on, let’s get inline;
I want to face the East once more
And give the same old sign.

I want to hear the gavel rap
the Craftsmen to attention
and see the Master don his cap;
a night without distinction.

So come!  Pass up that picture show,
or your wrestling bout or fight;
Switch off that TV set! Let’s go!
Let’s go to Lodge tonight.

The Lodge where I belong

By Arthur R. Herrmann

The Lodge where I belong

Though my lodge may lack the splendor
Of a Temple or a Shrine,

Or possess the gaudy fixtures
that are classed as superfine,

Yet the fellowship it offers
is in a price beyond compare.
And I wouldn’t trade it ever
for life’s treasures rich or bare!

The handclasp firm, the word of cheer,
Oh, such meanings they impart,
The mystic ties of brotherhood
that links our heart to heart!

You’d really have to travel far,
For the friendships quite so strong,
As that one always find right here
In the Lodge where I belong.

When all my earthly travels end,
And at last, I’m borne to rest
Where mortal hands no longer toil
and I cease life’s endless quest

Why there’s nothing I’d like better,
should I join the heavenly throng,
then to meet with all the Brothers
of the Lodge Where I Belong.
