The Knights templars were a military and religious order founded during the Crusades in the 12th century to protect pilgrims and defend holy sites in the Holy Land. They grew wealthy and influential. The Knights Templar’s in England began in 1128 when the French nobleman Hughes de Payens, the order’s founder and Grand Master, came to the country to collect men and money for the Crusades.

King Henry granted land across England, to the Templars including some land near Castle Baynard on the River Fleet. They built around the church.

The Templars’ headquarters were moved to the New Temple in London in 1184, where they founded another round church. Knight Templar Hospital A hospital was granted to the Knights Templars in 1185 for the use of sick people. The first Templar House in England was in London.

Not only king Henry is a loyal supporter of the knight templars also other are included like King Richard, Queen etc. The Knights Templar were granted a lesser role in public affairs and financial matters.
